Edge Entertainment secures Sundance Winner at the European Film Market in Berlin

The 73rd Berlin Film Festival has now come to an end and Edge Entertainment can proudly present three new acclaimed acquisitions at the European Film Market. The Sundance awarded documentary The Eternal Memory by Maite Alberdi, multiawarded The Beasts by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, which recently won nine Goya awards, and the highly praised prison drama Prison 77 by Alberto Rodríguez, which brought home five Goya awards.

Augusto and Paula have been together for 25 years. Eight years ago Augusto was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease which turned their lives upside down. As one of Chile's most prominent culture commentators, Augusto is used to create memory archives, having been responsible for the restoration of the collective memory after the systematic erasure during Pinochet's dictatorship. This is the story of a man who have spent his entire life trying to prevent collective amnesia, who is now loosing his own memory.
One of this years most talked about documentaries at the Sundance Film Festival where it won the Grand Jury Prize for best documentary and was sold to MTV Documentary Films for 3MUSD. Directed by Maite Alberdi, Oscar nominated for The Mole Agent, and produced by Pablo Larrain, known for Spencer, Jackie and Neruda, to name a few. It was also screened at the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival where it received an audience award for best documentary.

Antoine and Olga are a French couple who settled long ago in a village in the interior of Galicia. There they lead a quiet life, growing vegetables and remodeling abandoned houses, although their coexistence with the locals is not as idyllic as they wish. Their refusal to install a wind farm will accentuate the disagreement, especially with siblings Xan and Lorenzo, leading their possibilities of coexistence to a point of no return.
Oscar nominated director Rodrigo Sorogoyen delivers a high tension drama that had its, highly praised, world premier as an Official selection at Cannes 2022. The film has had a strong a reception with both critics and audiences winning nine Goyas, including best picture, best director and original screenplay at the 37th Goya Awards.
Already a box office success in Spain and France shows that the film resonates with its audience and delivers a strong cinematic experience. Edge Entertainment can proudly present the film in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland after having acquired the rights from Latido Films. The Beasts is scheduled for a US release in 2023 by Greenwich Films.

Manuel, is a young accountant convicted to an excessive 20-year sentence for having embezzled the equivalent of 1,200 Euros. Aided by his cellmate Pino, Manuel will become the leader of a movement that will unite all prisons in the fight for freedom and change prison laws and society forever.
Following Marshland and Smoke & Mirrors, the award-winning director Alberto Rodríguez is back with Prison 77, a powerful dive into the Spanish penitentiary system after the end of the dictatorship in 1977, which was the opening film at the San Sebastian Film Festival. Written by Rodríguez and his regular collaborator, Rafael Cobos, Prison 77 delivers a richly populated time capsule starring Miguel Hearrán (from Netflix success La Casa de Papel) and Javier Gutiérrez (Below Zero) in what is destined to become the hit Spanish film of 2022 at the box office.
