Edge brings home two acclaimed titles from Cannes 2022

Tevin Stakston

The 75:th edition of the Cannes film festival is over and Edge Entertainment are proud to announce two new acquisitions: the much buzzed French drama Return to Seoul by Davy Chou and the documentary Loving Highsmith on the best selling author Patricia Highsmith.

Return to Seoul by Davy Chou

Freddie, a mid-twenties woman adopted and raised in France, travels to South Korea, on an impulse to reconnect with her origins. The headstrong young woman starts looking for her biological parents in a country she knows so little about, taking her life in new and unexpected directions.

French-Cambodian director Davy Chou’s third feature Return to Seoul (formerly known as All the People I’ll Never Be) is a moving, delightful film following a young French woman’s quest to discover her Korean roots. The film premiered at Cannes Un Certain Regard and quickly became one of the most buzzed titles at the festival. Ahead of its world premiere, Sony Picture Classic acquired the rights for North America, Latin America, Australia, amongst others, and MUBI for UK, Ireland, Italy, Turkey, India and Southeast Asia.
Edge Entertainment has acquired the rights for the Nordic countries from MK2.

Swedish premiere in early 2023.

Loving Highsmith by Eva Vitija

The film’s narrative is based on the unpublished diaries of bestselling novelist Patricia Highsmith. Focusing on her quest for identity and her troubled love life, Loving Highsmith sheds new light on her writing. Family, friends, her own voice and beautifully interwoven archive material draw a vivid portrait of one of the most prolific female authors to date. Highsmith wrote over 22 novels, many were adapted to the big screen, best known are Strangers on a Train, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Carol, a partly autobiographic novel which was the first lesbian story with a happy end in 1950s America.
Directed by acclaimed director and screenwriter Eva Vitija and produced by the Zurich based production company Ensemble Film, Loving Highsmith world premiered at Solothurn Film Festival and released in Germany on April 7th, 2022.
Edge Entertainment has acquired the rights for the Nordic and Baltic countries from Autlook Filmsales.

Swedish premiere in August 2022.
