Following the end of Cannes' Marché du Film: Online 2020, Edge Entertainment proudly presents the acquisition of the documentary Helmut Newton: The Bad and the Beautiful (Gero von Boehm, Germany, 2020). A documentary about one of the most influential photographer of the 20th century who would have turned 100 later this year.

Helmut Newton: The Bad and the Beautiful is a documentary about one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century. It’s a fascinating dive into the artist's work and methods, where women who often posed as his objects, speaks out about him and his oeuvre. The documentary includes exclusive interviews with, amongst others, Charlotte Rampling, Grace Jones, Isabella Rossellini, Anna Wintour and of course Newton himself.

The film would have had its world premiere at the cancelled Tribeca Film Festival in New York and premieres at cinemas in Germany on July 7th 2020 – the same year Helmut Newton would have turned 100. Director Gero von Boehm, being a dear friend of the legendary photographer, says that his film is a new opportunity for people to get to know Helmut Newton. A man who mastered his craft and loved to provoke.

Edge Entertainment has acquired the rights for the Nordic countries from MK2. Swedish premiere winter 2020.
