Kitty, the imaginary girl to whom Anne Frank wrote her famous diary, comes to life in the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. Her memories reawakened by reading the diary, believing that if she’s alive, Anne must be alive as well, she sets out on a quest to find Anne. We follow Kitty as she travels across Europe and back to Anne Frank’s time, armed with the precious book, in search of her beloved friend.

Where is Anne Frank premiered at Cannes in Out of Competition to critical acclaim. It is a film that moves its audience and analyses its contemporary society. Ari Folman portrays Anne Frank’s life with kindness and warmth, together with two unique animation styles, the film is brought to life by strong performances by Emily Carey (Wonder Woman), Michael Maloney (Henry V) and Ruby Stokes (Bridgerton). The Conference by Matti Geschoneck

On the morning of 20 January 1942, in a villa on the lakefront of the Wannsee in Berlin, leading members of the Nazi regime came together. They had been invited by Reinhard Heydrich to a meeting followed by breakfast. The sole topic on the agenda that morning was what the Nazis called the Final Solution to the Jewish Question: the organization of the systematic mass murder of millions of Jews across Europe.

A historically accurate, haunting drama about a meeting that was part of planning the Holocaust. The film follows the protocol of this meeting. It was shot at the original location at Wannsee Lake in Berlin and produced by Constantin for the 80th commemoration day of the conference in 2022. It stars some of the most well-known German-speaking actors in the lead roles: Philipp Hochmair (The Experiment), Johannes Allmayer (Colonia Dignidad), Maximilian Brückner (Cherryblossoms), Thomas Loibl (Toni Erdmann) and Rafael Stachowiak (Undine).

Freaks Out by Gabriele Mainetti

Matilde, Cencio, Fulvio and Mario form a family in the circus where they work as ‘freaks’ in 1943 Nazi-occupied Italy. Israel, the owner and putative father, disappears in an attempt to find an escape route overseas for them all. The four friends are in disarray. Without anyone looking after them but, above all, without the circus, they lose their womb and feel lost as rudderless sideshow attractions in a city at war. Instead they are approached by the mysterious Franz from a German circus who is very keen to hire the group as his latest attraction.

Freaks Out is a spectacular historical drama directed by Gabriele Mainetti (They Call Me Jeeg, 2015) and had its world premiere in the competition at the 78th Venice International Film Festival. Surreal images, creative storytelling, and outstanding performances from Franz Rogowski, Aurora Giovinazzo and Pietro Castellitto come together in this prize awarded big budget production, signaling the birth of a new genre in Italian Cinema. It had its major release in Italy on October 28th, 2021.
