It’s 1968, 11-year-old Mick has just lost his father and has been sent to live with his grandfather in the Australian countryside. One day he rescues a dog from drowning. Together they become inseparable friends. But when Mick’s grandfather decides to send him to a boarding school, Mick decides to run away together with his trusty friend. But at the same time a wildfire travels closer and closer to his grandfather’s farm.
Red Dog: True Blue is an independent prequel to the phenomenal 2011 success Red Dog, one of the highest grossing Australian films of all time.
The film went on to screen at Sundance and was the opening film of both the Berlin film festival’s Generation Kplus section and the Stockholm Film Festival Junior.
