charlatan

Based on the true story of Jan Mikolášek, the Czech herbalist who during the turn of the 20th century diagnosed and healed millions of people using his intuition and his familiarity with plants. As Mikolášek gains more reputation and wealth thanks to his remarkable gifts, he start getting the attention from both the Nazi and Communist regime.

Charlatan is directed by the acclaimed polish director Agnieszka Holland (Mr. Jones, Spoor, etc.) and was selected as the Czech's official Oscar submission 2021. The film had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival 2020 and has been nominated for the prestigious prize Best Director at the European Film Awards.
